I use google analytics a lot in my job as a Digital Communicators Specialist. I review our website content on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis using google analytics to understand how our consumers are using our website and to look for opportunities to improve their user experience.
Since I rebooted this blog a few months ago at the start of my Digital Communications Strategy and Social Media class, I hadn’t set up Google Analytics on it yet. I decided this would be a good opportunity to share how you might do that for yourself with this video.
Watch: 3 Easy ways to add Google Analytics to your WordPress Blog
The three methods we take a look at in this video are:
- Adding Google Analytics .js tracking code through Appearance > Theme Options
- Installing a Google Analytics plug-in from the WordPress Plug-ins Store and modifying its Settings
- Modifying your Theme Footer through Appearance > Editor
This tutorial was filmed using my self-hosted WordPress installation, so your mileage may vary if you use the wordpress.com hosted blog – but if you have difficulty feel free to ask a question either here on on the video in youTube and I’ll see if I can help you out.
